Chalk Hill ‘Luna’ McLaren Vale Shiraz 2013

Syrah from Australia - South Australia
Review Date : 08-Jun-2014
100% Shiraz fermented to 14.5% alc., the wine aged in 2 and 3 y.o. oak casks. Very dark, deep, saturated, purple-hued black-red colour, very youthful in appearance. The nose is full and voluminous with ripe primary aromas of black plum jam with fragrant blueberry and boysenberry fruit and confectionary notes intertwined with dark herbs. Full-bodied, ripe and lusciously sweet flavours of plums, boysenberries and jam form a dense amalgam with herbal elements adding interest. The palate has power and alcohol drive and a fulsome, rounded mouthfeel, with supple background tannins contributing to the weight, carrying the flavours to a sweet, juicy, deep finish featuring sweet boysenberry fruit. This is a fulsome, ripe and densely packed, boysenberry fruited, jammy Shiraz. Serve with Middle Eastern cuisine over the next 5+ years. 17.5/20 Jun 2014 RRP AU$16.00
