Ch. Rieussec Sauternes 2009

Sweet Wine from France - Bordeaux
Review Date : 13-Aug-2013
1er Cru, 75 ha in Fargues, 92% Sem, 5% Sau and 3% Mus. 13.5% alc. Bright, even, light golden yellow colour. The nose is full, up-front and bold with complex aromas of wild honey, waxy Semillon fruit, marmalade, and nutty oak infused with subtle notes of caramel and toffee. A little volatile lift adds to the piquancy and intensity. Very sweet and lush, concentrated and bold flavours of caramel, orange marmalade, honey, nutty oak and butterscotch form a powerful and linear core. The mouthfeel has firmness and drive, promising more to unfold and open. Discreet acidity offers balance and tension, and along with the alcohol, carries the burnished, honey and nutty flavours to a very long, lingering finish. This is a benchmark Rieussec with its boldness and extravagance. It will develop over the next 15+ years. 19.0+/20 Aug 2013 RRP $279.00
