Ch. Reynon Premieres Cotes de Bordeaux 2009

Merlot from France - Bordeaux
Review Date : 25-Nov-2011
21 ha vineyards at Beguey, owned by Denis Dubourdieu, head of the Bodeaux School of Oenology. 82% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot, the wine aged 12 months in 30% new barriques. Dark purple-hued ruby-red colour, this shows aromas of dark berry fruits with savoury game notes and black spices. Soft, full, open and broadly expressed on palate, this shows sweetly ripe black fruit flavours, along with funky game complexities. The tannin extraction is a feature and is firm, leading to a finish that is dry, with a touch of bitterness. Keep for 4-6 years, match with hearty, slow-cooked meat dishes. 16.5/20 Nov 2011  RRP $29.95
