Ch. Pontet-Canet Pauillac 2003

Cabernet Sauvignon from France - Bordeaux
Review Date : 31-Dec-2014
5eme, 60% CS, 33% Me, 5% PV, 2% CG, the vines 45 y.o. average, 13.0% alc., the wine aged 16-20 months in 60% new oak. Approx. 25,000 cases made. Black-red colour with very good depth. The nose is delicate and ethereal. With growing volume of pure blackcurrant varietal fruit enriched by ripe plum nuances. This has fragrance and perfume, adding to the youthful, primary fruit expression, revealing cedary oak. Elegant and restrained in expression on palate, blackcurrant fruit flavours are entwined with cedary oak. This is harmoniously melded and flows effortlessly with supple tannins in support. Spices and oak show on the very long finish. This is elegant and archetype Left Bank claret that will develop over 10-15 years. 18.5/20 Nov 2014
