Ch. Pichon-Longueville Lalande Pauillac 2003

Cabernet Sauvignon from France - Bordeaux
Review Date : 31-Dec-2014
2eme, 65% CS, 31% Me, 4% PV, 13.0% alc., the wine aged 18 months in 50% new oak. Approx. 15,000 cases made. Very dark, deep, black-red colour with some garnet on rim. This has a very elegant, soft and finely expressed bouquet with delicate fragrances of cedar, spice and smoke along with dried herbal elements. Quite small-scale and ethereal. A medium-bodied and elegantly proportioned wine with finely expressed flavours in the secondary spectrum. Spices, cedar, dried herbs and currants, along with toasty oak. The tannins are fine, lending a dry mouthfeel, with the acidity still lively. The palate leads to a light finish. This is beginning to mature and dry a little. Although there is beauty, is it a little too forward and too elegant? Drink over the next 5+ years. 17.5+/20 Nov 2014
