Ch. Palmer Margaux 2000

Blended Red from France - Bordeaux
Review Date : 12-Nov-2015
3eme, 53% CS, 47% Me. Dark, deep, black-hued garnet-red colour, near impenetrable at the heart. This has a very firm and concentrated, penetrating bouquet with a core of savoury dark red and black berried fruits unfolding waves of secondary perfumes, leather, truffles and undergrowth. Savoury red florals, cedar, pencil shavings and cigar box all contribute to the complex detail and aromatic extravagance. Medium-bodied, the palate is smooth and seamless with a complex array of sweet flavours unfolding from the heart. Savoury black and red fruits, plums, liquorice, spices and cedar combine with undergrowth and leather. Secondary and tertiary complexities flow. The mouthfeel features very fine’ silky tannins and refined acid poise, and the wine carries to a very long finish with pencil and toasty nuances. This is beginning to show maturity, but will evolve another 10+ years easily. 19.5+/20 Nov 2015 RRP $899
