Ch. Montrose St Estephe 2010

Cabernet Sauvignon from France - Bordeaux
Review Date : 16-Sep-2013
2eme, 95 ha, 65% CS, 25% Me, 10% CF. Full, densely coloured, impenetrable black-purple colour, fully saturated. The bouquet is full and intensely packed with bold and opulent primary blackcurrant essence aromas. This is nearly raw and press-juice in its purity. Layers of aromatic perfumes with ripeness and oak shine unfold adding detail and dimensions of interest. Full-bodied with massive extraction, density, presence and weight, the sheer concentration of ripe, raw, primary blackcurrant and black plum fruits is the feature. This is very sweet and opulent, but the palate exudes finesse, with very fine textures and acidity underlining the richness and providing tension and subtle drive. The acidity is a main component and endows ‘puissance’. This is a multi-layered, backward and massively concentrated wine that shows an underlying finesse. A 20+ year wine easily. 19.5+/20 Sep 2013 RRP $612.00
