Ch. L’Estang Cotes de Castillon 2009

Merlot from France - Bordeaux
Review Date : 25-Nov-2011
From 26 ha in Saint Genes de Castillon, this is 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc from 35 y.o. vines, the wine aged 12 months in 30% new oak. Bright ruby-red colour with purple hues, the nose features dark spicy plum and dark berry fruit aromas laced by toasty oak notes. Quite tightly bound and restrained in flavour, this shows good concentration and weight, the tannins very fine-grained. There is very good fruit ripeness and richness, and oak toasting is noticeable, but well-balanced. This will unfold and develop over the next 4-6 years. 17.0+/20 Nov 2011  RRP $23.50
