Ch. Leoville-Poyferre St Julien 2003

Cabernet Sauvignon from France - Bordeaux
Review Date : 31-Dec-2014
2eme, 62% CS, 28% Me, 8% PV, 2% CF, 13.5% alc., the wine aged 22 months in 75% new oak. Approx. 20,000 cases made. Very dark, deep, black-red colour. The bouquet is soft and elegant in proportion with cedary fruit and oak infused with game-like brettanomyces quite prominent. Medium full-bodied, solidly structure, the mouthfeel is dry-textured with blocky tannins. Some blackcurrant and cedary fruit and oak flavours still show though, but the tannins and extraction are the feature, and lead to a tough, grippy finish. Here the brett is taking over. Drink up. 16.5/20 Nov 2014
