Ch. Leoville-Barton St Julien 2007

Cabernet Sauvignon from France - Bordeaux
Review Date : 08-Jun-2011
2eme, 45 ha, 72% CS, 8% CF, 20% Me, full, near-saturated black garnet-red in colour, still youthful in appearance, this has an elegant, but intense and packed nose of ripe black berry fruits with spicy oak and a little funky meatiness from a little brettanomyces. Tight and firmly constructed, this has concentrated, almost chunky blackcurranty fruit, with layers of flavours unfolding. Spicy dark plums, oak toast and hints of game show. The extraction is significant, but very fine-grained and leaves the palate with a dry finish. An elegant, but archetype Leoville-Barton, showing the lighter vintage, to drink over the next 6-8+ years.  Jun 2011
