Ch. Le Gay Bordeaux 2009

Merlot from France - Bordeaux
Review Date : 20-Nov-2012
Not to be confused with the Ch. Le Gay of Pomerol. A blend of 68% Merlot and 32% Cabernet Franc from 30 y.o. vines from a 21 ha estate situated at Artigues-pres Bordeaux near the N89 between Bordeaux and Libourne, the property owned by the Boursaud family since 1922. Dark, deep, purple-ruby colour, this has a full, plump nose of spicy plums and a little savoury earthiness. Medium-bodied, this is a full, robust and gutsy wine on palate with plenty of fleshy fruitiness. Flavours of dark red berries and plums show, framed by rugged tannins. This is a robust fruity wine to drink over the next 4-5+ years. 16.5/20   Nov 2011  RRP $16.50
