Ch. Lascombes Margaux 1967

Cabernet Sauvignon from France - Bordeaux
Review Date : 25-Feb-2013
2eme Cru. Deep, dark garnet-red colour with some brick and brown on edge. The nose is fulsome with layers of savoury, earthy red and brown fruits, quite secondary and forest floor combined with leaf and dried herbs. Suggestions of meat and game are present, and the palate is a little rustic and unrefined in expression. Medium-bodied, this has a good concentrated core of earthy, savoury red and brown fruits, along with underlying sweet black fruit and curranty elements. The mouthfeel is fine, with a little drying firmness, the acidity in the background. This manages to hold some fineness and style, the fruit just beginning to dry now. For an average vintage, this has done well. 17.5-/20 Feb 2013
