Ch. Lafaurie-Peyraguey Sauternes 2005

Sweet Wine from France - Bordeaux
Review Date : 01-Oct-2012
47.5 ha, 36 ha in vine. 90% Semillon, 8% Sauvignon Blanc and 2% Muscadelle, 40 y.o. on average. 18-20 months in 30% new oak. Bright lemony-gold in colour with some light green hues on rim. The nose is a classically integrated mix of ripe, waxy, tropical fruit and honied botrytis, showing excellent intensity, quite concentrated, with savoury nutty complexities emerging in glass. A little volatility is apparent. Very sweet, the flavours are fine and tightly bound, resulting in a leaner mouthfeel with some drying texture and grip. Citrus and nuts feature, the wine finely firm, and somewhat restrained. There is good underlying acidity for life. This will keep 7-9 years. 5,500 cases produced. 18.0/20 Sep 2012 (375 ml) RRP $73.00
