Ch. Haut Maginet Bordeaux 2014

Merlot from France - Bordeaux
Review Date : 11-Jan-2016
Dark, deep, purple-hued ruby-red colour. This has a fragrant and aromatic nose of bright and lifted dark red berry fruit along with gentle plummy notes. The nose is initially restrained, but grows in intensity, revealing redcurrant elements with aeration. Medium-bodied and finely proportioned, the palate shows lively and juicy flavours of red berry fruits, redcurrants and plums, entwined with some fresh herb detail. Fine-grained tannin extraction and balanced acidity provides a fresh, energetic mouthfeel and structure, and the wine carries to a sustained finish of bright red berry and curranty fruit. This is an elegant, bright, aromatic and juicy Bordeaux red with fine-grained tannins and a fresh mouthfeel. Serve with Mediterranean fare, pork and veal over the next 3-4 years. 63 ha in Soussac. 60% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, fermented to 13.5% alc. 17.0/20 Jan 2016 RRP $21.90
