Ch. Guiraud Sauternes 2009

Sweet Wine from France - Bordeaux
Review Date : 13-Aug-2013
1er Cru, 83 ha in Sauternes, 65% Sem and 35% Sau, vines 35-40 y.o. average. 13.5% alc. Deep, light golden-yellow colour. The bouquet is rich with fresh, fully ripened tropical fruits, essence of passionfruit, lanolin and some oak spice, the botrytis harmoniously interwoven. This is solid and fulsome with great density and depth on the nose. Very sweet and liquoreux, the mouthfeel is one of unctuousness and breadth, the wine soft and lush, the acidity a little restrained. Rich, exotic flavours of fully-ripened passionfruit, nectarines and green stonefruits meld with homey and lime marmalade. This is soft, plush and densely textured, on the edge of lacking cut and tension through its decadence. A truly flamboyant and exotic, unctuous Sauternes that will age 10-15+ years easily. 19.0+/20 Aug 2013 RRP $170.00
