Ch. Guiraud Sauternes 2005

Sweet Wine from France - Bordeaux
Review Date : 01-Oct-2012
128 ha, 100 ha to vine. 65% Semillon, 35% Sauvignon Blanc, 40 y.o. on average. 18-24 months in 90% new oak. Deep, light golden yellow colour with depth. The nose is full, deep and with solidly expressed aromas of secondary citrussy fruit with ripe herbs and smoky oak. Maybe Sauvignon and oak doesn't integrate as well as with Semillon? Very sweet, this is soft, lush and has ripe, honied, tropical fruit flavours, quite elegant in proportion, subtle and gentle on palate. The acidity is low, adding to the roundness of texture, and the wine has a restrained, musky finish. The Sauvignon Blanc and oak is noticeable in the soft-textured wine. 6-8+ years easily. 15,000 cases produced. (375 ml) 18.0-/20 Sep 2012 RRP $93.00
