Ch. d’Yquem Sauternes 2002

Sweet Wine from France - Bordeaux
Review Date : 18-Mar-2016
This has an even, light golden-yellow colour. The nose is full and broad with deep, slightly funky aromas of tropical fruits, wild honey, savoury marmalade, nuts and caramel notes. The palate reflects the bouquet with its mouthfilling flavours of tropical fruits, savoury dark marmalade and wild honey notes. The mouthfeel is fulsome and rounded, with soft, mouthfilling presence. This has alcoholic power, warmth and drive, with a subtle, underlying phenolic component. Full, strong and muscular with some funky complexity developing. 19.0-/20 Mar 2016 RRP$N/A Full, light golden straw colour. On nose, the expression was not clear-cut, but rather soft and matty, with a savoury, smoky, musky aspect, along with some VA lift. A little more attractive on palate, this was softly full, quite open and nearly broad in style. Honey and confectionary flavours showed alongside oak. Some savoury, muskiness also, suggesting some sour rot? Not quite the backbone or length here.  17.0-/20 Aug 2010
