Ch. d’Yquem Sauternes 1996

Sweet Wine from France - Bordeaux
Review Date : 18-Mar-2016
This has a full, light golden-yellow colour. The bouquet is firmly concentrated and complex in expression with a deep core of savoury tropical fruit, dark orange marmalade, spicy and nutty oak, some funky wild honey and mineral suggestions. Rich and viscous on palate the plush and unctuous mouthfeel carries an amalgam of tropical and savoury citrus fruits, orange marmalade, beeswax, and nutty, spicy oak. This had depth and density. Complex and fulsome with funky richness and considerable interest. This is mature in flavour and possibly over the top, but will hold. 19.0+/20 Mar 2016 RRP $N/A Bright, light golden in colour. This had an excellent bouquet of honied, waxy fruits and nutty oak along with some VA lift adding an exotic note. Very elegant and intense. The slightest suspicion of some TCA taint too, on nose? However, showing great intensity, elegance and finesse on the palate, without any corruption. A wine of great style, concentrated with flavours, extremely well-balanced, and with excellent acidity. This should develop into a classic.  18.5+/20 Aug 2010
