Ch. d’Yquem Sauternes 1994

Sweet Wine from France - Bordeaux
Review Date : 18-Mar-2016
has a deep golden yellow colour. The nose is firmly constructed with deeply packed aromas of orange marmalade, barley sugar, caramel and notes of toffee, and integrated oak. A trace of TCA cork taint is detectable, probably preventing full expression. Soft and full on palate, the flavours of ripe tropical fruits, barley sugar and caramel show boldly and are mouthfilling. Some TCA is apparent, and the mouthfeel has grip and an emerging hardness, tending towards bitterness. This is fully mature, with toffee and caramel, along with some grip. This bottle has a cork taint issue. 17.5/20 Mar 2016 RRP $N/A Deepish light golden yellow colour and a nose that had the fruit and botrytis dominated by volatile acidity. However the palate showed less VA, allowing the honied, waxy fruit show, with elegant botrytis and balanced oak. Good richness, density, resulting in a full and solid expression, possibly needing a little more acidity for freshness. 18.0-/20  Aug 2010
