Ch. d’Yquem Sauternes 1988

Sweet Wine from France - Bordeaux
Review Date : 18-Mar-2016
This has a full, deep dark golden yellow colour. Full and voluminous on bouquet, the aromas show secondary and tertiary savoury and burnished notes of ripe tropical fruits, dark orange marmalade, caramel and toffee, along with layers of dark, wild honey and toasty elements. The palate is broad and mouthfilling, softly textured, mellow and integrated, unfolding gentle layers of ripe tropical and citrus fruits, honey, barley sugar and toffee. This is a decadent, soft, mature Yquem for drinking now. 18.5/20 Mar 2016 RRP $N/A Brilliant, limpid golden yellow colour. Still very youthful and amazingly fresh on bouquet, with fine, rich, waxy fruit laced with honey and lemon marmalade botrytis, backed with oak spice. This has yet to blossom. On palate still firm, bound and brooding, with its concentrated and dense tropical fruits and firm but subtle line of oak. The acidity is sharp and crisp. Still locked down, but undeniably superb at present, this is potentially outstanding and a legend in the making.  19.0-/20 Aug 2010
