Ch. d’Yquem Sauternes 1987

Sweet Wine from France - Bordeaux
Review Date : 18-Mar-2016
has a light golden colour with some depth. Quite an elegantly proportioned wine on bouquet, this possessed ripe, but fresh orange fruit and marmalade aromas juxtaposed with butterscotch and caramel elements. The aromatics have intensity and a cutting cleanliness. Tightly bound and concentrated on palate, the flavours of ripe citrus and tropical fruits are layered with wild honey and caramel. The mouthfeel is refreshing, lively and taut, resulting in finesse. Will the flavours retain their brightness, allowing this to develop in balance? It is a lighter wine in the final analysis. 18.5/20 Mar 2016 RRP $N/A Bright, light golden yellow in colour. This possessed a hard, alcoholic nose, somewhat tight and firm in expression. Sour aromatics, oak resin were detracting elements. Yet on palate attractively rich, sweet, intense, with soft wild honey notes. A wine of medium-weight and depth, moderate freshness, and rather fulsome in the end.  17.5-/20 Aug 2010
