Ch. d’Yquem Sauternes 1983

Sweet Wine from France - Bordeaux
Review Date : 18-Mar-2016
This has a deep, dark, golden yellow colour. The bouquet is complex with harmonious waves of marmalade, wild honey, savoury barley sugar and caramel. The aromatics have an ethereal quality with some lift. The fruit is beginning to give way to the savoury and funky tertiary development. Rich, deeply succulent and concentrated, the palate has layers of flavour that unfold, showing orange and tangerine marmalade, honey and caramel with savoury toffee. The fruit is underlined by fine phenolic textures and the mouthfeel retains acid vitality. The wine flow along a very long lingering line and finish. Amazingly layered and complex, this has acid vitality and great length. 19.5-/20 Mar 2016 RRP $N/A Bright light golden yellow in colour with good depth. This had a strikingly beautiful bouquet, very finely expressed, packed with honey and ripe yellow fruits, apricotty botrytis, and superb nuances unfolding in the glass. Quite perfect on nose. A wine of great elegance with concentration. Immensely deep, yet very finely detailed, layers unfolding, and really multi-dimensional. This had a superb array of flavours, making it a truly great wine.  20.0/20 Aug 2010
