Ch. d’Yquem Sauternes 1982

Sweet Wine from France - Bordeaux
Review Date : 18-Mar-2016
This has a deep, dark gold colour and a broad, full and solidly packed nose of burnished orange marmalade, caramel, toffee and butterscotch. The aromatics are even and show an array of mature characters, along with subtle TCA cork taint mustiness and a suggestion of nutty oxidation. On palate this is cleaner with bold, fulsome flavours of barley sugar, caramel, toffee, and some savouriness. Very soft textures and a lush, near unctuous mouthfeel. The cork taint is in the background. This is fulsome, very soft and broad, packed with toffee and caramel flavours. Drink up! 17.0+/20 Mar 2016 RRP $N/A Bright, deep, light golden colour with orange hues. Showing superbly on the nose, this had rich honied aromas with apricot and marmalade botrytis, alongside good oak spice. Some VA, all in style, this bouquet full of interest and complexing elements. On palate, this had excellent tropical fruits, honey, citrus, and some botrytis. Good freshness and a fine length. Quite a driven, linear expression, with a little more nuance needed to make it one of the great d'Yquems.  18.5/20 Aug 2010
