Ch. d’Yquem Sauternes 1981

Sweet Wine from France - Bordeaux
Review Date : 18-Mar-2016
has a deep, golden-yellow colour with aromas of savoury herb and stonefruits. The nose is softly full, lifted with a little fresh prickle, and quite accessible. Though not with full ripeness and only moderate in richness, this has balancing honey notes and some marmalade and caramel at the core. Tight and with elegant concentration, the mouthfeel is luscious and harmonious. The richness is modest, and the wine lacks the dimension for real complexity, this has a pleasing balance and harmony, albeit in a smaller, modest way. 17.5+/20 Mar 2016 RRP $N/A Brilliant golden yellow colour. The nose was marked by lifted tropical fruits, including pineapple, with citrus and caramel complexities. Oak was prominent, along with some volatility. The palate was rich and luscious on entry with excellent freshness matching the density. Good concentration here, but not quite sustained and tending to dryness on the finish.  18.0-/20 Aug 2010
