Ch. d’Yquem Sauternes 1980

Sweet Wine from France - Bordeaux
Review Date : 18-Mar-2016
This has an even golden-yellow colour with some depth. Light and somewhat pinched on bouquet, this has an amalgam of stonefruits, savoury herbs, burnished orange marmalade, caramel and nuts, along with some volatility. Full, open and easy on the palate, the flavours of savoury orange marmalade, caramel and nuts show in an up-front manner, with modest detail and dimension. There is still sweetness and richness however. The softness, integration and breadth ask for drinking now. 17.5-/20 Mar 2016 RRP $N/A Bright, light golden-straw coloured and possessed an attractive lemon-citrus and honied bouquet, still very fresh and lifted by a little VA component. Somewhat narrowed in expression, there were floral, honey and yellow fruit flavours on a moderately rich palate. However, there was good acid freshness providing liveliness.  17.5-/20 Aug 2010
