Ch. d’Yquem Sauternes 1975

Sweet Wine from France - Bordeaux
Review Date : 18-Mar-2016
This has an even, dark golden colour. The nose has piquant lift and ethereal aromas of ripe tropical fruits with fresh floral and waxy, nutty notes intermingling with honey, orange marmalade, barley sugar and caramel. This has remarkable freshness and refinement. On palate, the flavours of apricots, tropical fruits, burnished oranges, honey, and caramel are underlined by fine acid vitality and tension. This has power, elegance, tightness and linearity, and the subtle complexing mushroomy tertiary elements add to the detail. Incredibly youthful and with decades to go. 20.0/20 Mar 2016 RRP $N/A Deeply coloured with gold and amber hues. Very full and broad on bouquet, this was showing evolution with complex toffee and dark caramel aromas, and a noticeable VA component. Very rich, full and dense on palate, this was open in structure and mouthfilling with its breadth and rounded textures. Fully mature with complex flavour amalgams now.  18.5/20 Aug 2010
