Ch. d’Yquem Sauternes 1960

Sweet Wine from France - Bordeaux
Review Date : 18-Mar-2016
This has a full, even, dark gold colour with deep mahogany hues. Full, deep and solidly concentrated on bouquet, the density of caramel, toffee, crème brulee and rancio-like aromas is the feature. The bouquet has a fine layering of tertiary wood and undergrowth along with some volatile lift. Fulsome and weighty on palate with depth and presence, the packed core of dark and burnished marmalade, beeswax, toffee, brulee, earth and wood flavours show with power. As the wine flows, some drying and grip appears, but this is in remarkable condition and shows with richness, sturdiness and intense complexity. 19.0+/20 Mar 2016 RRP $N/A Bright golden yellow with mahogany hues. Tight and pinched on nose, with cork-taint TCA mustiness, alongside nutty aromas. On palate, a drying bitterness to the butterscotch and caramel flavours, nutty, and a little phenolic on finish.  16.5+/20 Aug 2010
