Ch. du Retout Haut-Medoc 2009

Cabernet Sauvignon from France - Bordeaux
Review Date : 20-Jun-2012
84 ha property in Cusac-Fort-Medoc, owned by Helene and Frederic Soual. 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot and 18% Petit Verdot. Dark ruby-red colour. The nose is light in expression with an amalgam of dark berries and currants with aromas of stalks and earth, with some peppery elements. Medium-bodied, this is a little on the lean side, with cool-spectrum blackcurrant, herb and stalky-leafy flavours. Not quite the sweetness here, but this has a fine textural mouthfeel and drive, the structure and proportion pleasing. One to drink earlier, say 4-5 years. 15.5/20 Jun 2012 RRP $29.95
