Ch. de Segure ‘Vieilles Vignes’ Fitou 2014

Blended Red from France - Other
Review Date : 26-Jan-2017
Dark, deep, black-hued ruby-red colour with youthful purple tints. The nose is finely concentrated with aromatic black-berried fruits along with notes of dark-red and black florals, liquorice, subtle notes of dark herbs and spicy, slightly resinous oak. Medium-full bodied, the palate possesses sweet and vibrant black and dark-red berry fruit flavours intermingling with spices, black pepper and nuances of herbs and liquorice, unfolding floral and nutty oak elements. The wine is fine-featured with moderately extracted, supple tannins and the mouthfeel is enlivened by fresh, integrated acidity, carrying to an elegant, lingering finish. This is an elegantly concentrated and fine-textured Fitou with lively and accessible black fruit, herb, liquorice and nutty flavours. Match with lamb and beef over the next 4-5 years. A blend of 40% Grenache and 30% each of Syrah and Carignan, the latter two varieties undergoing carbonic maceration and the wine fermented to 13.5% alc. and aged 9 months on oak barrels. 17.0+/20 Jan 2017 RRP $16.95
