Ch. de Fargues Sauternes 2007

Sweet Wine from France - Bordeaux
Review Date : 01-Oct-2012
170 ha, 15 ha in vine eligible for Sauternes. 80% Semillon, 20% Sauvignon Blanc, 35 y.o. on average. Fermented and aged 36 months in 100% new oak. Brilliant, full, golden-yellow colour. The bouquet is very full and expansive, packed with aromas of ripe citrus fruits and apricots, honey and caramelised fruit, with nuts, all smoothly integrated, yet with a freshness underlying the richness. Very sweet, decadent, plush and opulent flavours unfold in waves. Ripe tropical fruits, honey, caramel, marmalade and musk are evident of strong botrytis infection. Excellent acidity provides a good driven line, and there is a little textural grip to counter the sweetness. There is considerable depth that needs time to open up. 10-12+ years. 19.0+/20 Sep 2012 RRP $440.00
