Ch. de Fargues Sauternes 2005

Sweet Wine from France - Bordeaux
Review Date : 01-Oct-2012
170 ha, 15 ha in vine eligible for Sauternes. 80% Semillon, 20% Sauvignon Blanc, 35 y.o. on average. Fermented and aged 36 months in 100% new oak. Bright, light golden-yellow colour with depth, paler on rim. The bouquet is very full, open, soft and broad, quite fat, with density. Burnished caramel, honey, apricots of very ripe Semillon fruit and botrytis merge with nutty oak. Very sweet and softly mouthfilling, this is lusciously broad, a little over the top and excessive, near flabby with its softness and density. Honey, wax, caramel and marmalade are expressed with a solid, fulsome, chunkiness, with the acidity on the lower side. There's no denying the decadence here. 8-10+ years. (375 ml) 18.5+/20 Sep 2012 RRP $152.00
