Ch. Croix Figeac Saint Emilion Grand Cru 2010

Merlot from France - Bordeaux
Review Date : 03-Dec-2012
35 ha property near Ch. Cheval Blanc with Stephane Derenoncourt consulting. 78% Merlot and 22% Cabernet Franc. 14.5% alc. Previously known as Ch. Rocher Bellevue Figeac. Very full, black-hued purple-red colour, near saturated. The bouquet is shy and restrained with an aromatic amalgam of ripe dark plums and herby, curranty fruit, clearly fresh and primary, and with good presence. Medium-full-bodied, quietly expressed fruit flavours of currants and dark plums show good tension and energy, with underlying acidity providing good balance. The tannins are fine-grained and firm and form a core that continues to a dry, moderately sustained finish. The wine builds in richness and vinosity, without over-exuberance. This is a stylish and balanced Merlot based wine with a conservative expression, but the ability to evolve over the next 7-9+ years. Match with roast lamb. (375 ml) 17.5/20 Dec 2012 RRP $19.95
