Ch. Climens Barsac 2009

Sweet Wine from France - Bordeaux
Review Date : 13-Aug-2013
1er Cru, 31 ha in Barsac, 100% Sem. 13.5% alc. Full, deep, light golden yellow. This has a fresh, primary nose, initially dis-jointed, with ripe citrus and yellow stonefruits, waxy-lanolin Semillon, nutty oak, and fine botrytis. The aromatics unfold and merge, becoming integrated and rich with real depth an presence. Very sweet, luscious and unctuous, near liquoreux, the palate has concentration and opulence allied to a tight, firm, driven underlying core. The flavours have a stylish restraint, but is brooding with layers yet to develop. Honey, caramel and lanolin, with nutty infusion are bound with density, the acidity quite unobtrusive. The flavours build on the finish, showing bitter orange marmalade and honeycomb notes. This is still very tight and backward with great richness and power. A standout Barsac, as usual. 15-20 years. 19.0+/20 Aug 2013 RRP $375.00
