Ceres ‘Swansong Vineyard’ Bannockburn Central Otago Pinot Gris 2015

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 06-Sep-2016
Bright, light straw-yellow colour with slight golden hues, paler on rim. The nose is fresh and full with aroma of ripe yellow stonefruits interwoven with yellow and rose-petal floral, nuances of honeysuckle and flinty lees and minerals. The aromatics possess a soft density. Medium-dry to taste and medium-full bodied, the palate shows good weight and depth, and strong presence of yellow stonefuits and lifted rose-petal florals. Nuances of honeysuckle and musk unfold and minerally lees detail adds interest. The flavours are mouthfilling and underlined by some alcoholic power and drive, with integrated acidity lending roundness to the palate. The wine carries to a fulsome, dry finish of stonefruits and florals. This medium-dry Pinot Gris has yellow stonefruit and rose-petal floral flavours on a fulsome, warm palate. Match with Middle Eastern and Asian cuisine over the next 3-4 years. A field blend of 90% Pinot Gris and 10% Gewurztraminer fermented in stainless-steel to 14.5% alc. and 9 g/L RS, the wine aged 4 months on lees with batonnage. 18.5-/20 Sep 2016 RRP $28.00
