Fruit from the ‘Inlet' and ‘Black Rabbit' vineyards, fermented to 14.0% alc., making 2 and 9 barrels respectively, the wine aged 11 months in oak, approx. 30% new. Very full, dark, deep, purple-hued ruby-red colour, youthful in appearance. This has a deep and solidly presented nose featuring perfumed, ripe dark red berry and cherry aromas interwoven with spicy, savoury thyme herb notes. Full-bodied, the fruit flavours are youthfully primary, but somewhat restrained. Dark red berry fruit and cherries mingle with spicy black plums and liquorice. Thyme herb and minerally elements unfold and the fruit builds with richness and lusciousness. The fruit is framed by a robust structure from significant tannin extraction, and the wine has good acid vitality and energy, which together lead to a long, textural finish. This is a powerfully constructed, robust Pinot Noir with ripe fruit and classic thyme herb notes. Match with roasted pork and beef dishes over the next 8-10 years. 18.0+/20 Oct 2012 RRP $38.00
