Ceres ‘Composition’ Central Otago Pinot Noir 2007

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 11-Feb-2011
This is an 11 barrel blend of fruit from the ‘Inlet' and ‘Black Rabbit' sites overlooking Bannockburn Inlet. Clones 6, 777 and 115 with 5 and 115 respectively. Very full, deep, dark ruby-red colour, youthful in appearance. This has a powerful, rich and densely concentrated nose of sweetly ripe black berry fruits with oak spices and nuances of dried herbs. Full-bodied at 14.0% alc., the palate displays plummy dark berry and sour cherry flavours, a little secondary forest-floor appearing. The sweet fruit richness is well-matched by good structure and grip. This shows the powerful nature of the 2007 vintage. This wine is beginning to develop some complexity and will drink well with hearty roasted and grilled red meats over the next 5-8 years. 18.0-/20 Feb 2011 RRP $35.00
