Caythorpe Pinot Gris 2020, Marlborough

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 07-Oct-2020
Bright, straw-yellow with some depth, watery colourless on the rim. The nose is vibrant and generous, perfumes of melon, Nashi pear and apple are mouthwatering, underlying five-spice and wite florals. Dry-ish to taste, medium-bodied, ripe, fruity aromas of melon, Nashi pear and apple entwined an amalgam of white blossoms, linger with subtle five-spice on the finish. The mouthfeel is smooth and oily, carries fruit flavours across the palate with ease and left a lingering finish. Fresh acidity provides balance to the residual sweetness and breadth to the palate. Match with Vietnamese caramelised pork bowls and green curry over the next 2-3 years. Fermented in stainless steel to 13.5% alc, 6 g/l RS. Left on lees for 3 months. 17.5/20 pts Oct 2020 RRP $20
