Caythorpe Chardonnay 2019, Marlborough

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 04-Aug-2020
Bright, light yellow with some depth, even colour throughout. The nose is gently full with flavours of stonefruit, young ginger, barrel spices melded with a touch of cream and subtle floral. Medium-bodied, nuances of lemon, candied pear, stonefruit, interweaved with vanilla, creamy caramel and oak spice detail. The mouthfeel is soft-textured and rounded with balanced, lively acidity, underlaying the caramel notes, flows smoothly to a lingering finish of lemony, vibrant finish. This is a fresh and youthful Chardonnay with detail of stonefruit, citrus and creamy caramel. Match with chicken with creamy sauce over the next 2-3 years. Fermented in French oak, 15% new, to 13% alc. Aged in oak for 11 months. 17.5/20 pts Aug 2020 RRP $25
