Catherine’s Block Waipara Valley Pinot Gris 2015

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 27-Mar-2016
Bright, light golden-hued yellow colour with some depth. The nose is full and soft with light aromas of white and yellow stonefruits along with exotic florals, pears and youthful esters lift. Off-dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate features up-front, light flavours of white and yellow stonefruits, pears and floral elements, lifted by harmoniously interwoven esters. The palate is fine in concentration and the wine follows a fine phenolic thread with underlying acid drive. The wine flows with good energy and vibrancy to an elegant, lingering finish. This is an elegant, off-dry Pinot Gris with finely concentrated and aromatic flavours of stonefruits and pears with some lifted esters. Match with Thai, Japanese and Vietnamese fare over the next 3 years. Clones 2/15 and Lincoln Berry Smith, cool-fermented in stainless-steel with a small portion in barrel to 13.5% alc. and 6 g/L RS, the wine aged 4 months on lees. 17.5/20 Mar 2016 RRP $16.00
