Catherine’s Block Waipara Valley Pinot Gris 2012

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 26-Feb-2013
Brilliant, very pale straw-yellow with slight green hues, pale on rim. The nose is light and fresh with aromas of white and yellow stonefruits with flinty, mineral reductive elements and a lifted steeliness. Dryish to taste, the flavours of stonefruits are light in expression with a flinty underlay. Soft textures and restrained acidity provide a balanced and harmonious mouthfeel with a moderately weighted, elegantly proportioned core. The acidity lends a freshness and energy that carries the delicate flavours to a subtly nuanced finish. This is a light, off-dry Pinot Gris with some flintiness and a balanced mouthfeel. Serve with antipasto and first courses over the next 3+ years. Two parcels stainless-steel fermented then blended, resulting in 13.0% alc. and 8 g/L rs, the wine spending 4 months on lees. 700 cases made. 16.5/20 Feb 2013 RRP $23.99
