Catalina Sounds Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2013

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 27-Nov-2013
Bright, very pale straw colour with slight green hues, near colourless on the rim. Refined and delicately expressed, ripe gooseberry aromas are lifted by white floral and fresh herb notes on the bouquet. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, smooth-flowing flavours of gooseberries, white florals and minerally elements build on the palate, forming a positive core with linearity. The fruit has some lusciousness enlivened by fresh, lacy acidity and the flavours are carried by very fine phenolic textures to a detailed, dry finish. This is a refined and subtly building Sauvignon Blanc with gooseberry and floral flavours. Serve as an aperitif, with seafood, and poultry over the next 2+ years. 50% from the home Waihopi Valley vineyard, the remainder mainly from the Southern Valleys. Predominantly cool-fermented in stainless-steel with 5% in French puncheons and 4,000 Litre foudres at warmer temperatures, the wine undergoing batonnage. 13.0% alc. and 1.9 g/L RS. 18.0+/20 Nov 2013 RRP $23.00
