Catalina Sounds Marlborough Pinot Gris 2014

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 19-Nov-2014
Fruit from the ‘Sound of White’ vineyard in the Waihopi, WBP, with 80% fermented in tank with high solids and 20% in puncheon to 13.95% alc. and 2.7 g/L RS, the barrel portion undergoing batonnage for 4 months. Bright, very pale straw colour. This has a fresh, aromatic, lifted nose of exotic florals with nuances of pears and spices adding detail. Dry to taste, the palate is slender and elegantly proportioned with up-front, lifted, pure floral and stonefruit flavours. The fruit is enriched, and the mouthfeel is enlivened by bright acidity, with fine phenolic textures emerging and growing to provide a positive core and line. As the wine flows, the flavours recede, the textures carrying the wine to a moderately long, dry finish with suggestions of stonefruit kernels. This is a fresh, bright, aromatic, dry Pinot Gris with a dry, textured finish. Match with most white meat dishes over the next 3+ years. 17.5+/20 Nov 2014 RRP $25.00
