Catalina Sounds Marlborough Pinot Gris 2012

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 15-Oct-2012
Bright, pale, straw-yellow colour, light on rim. This has a very fresh, elegantly proportioned and pure nose of white florals, pears, with lifted aromatics and hints of fermentation esters along with flinty, minerally lees work. Dry to taste, and medium-bodied, this is an elegant and slender wine with fine floral and subtle pear flavours expressed with lovely purity. This has a very fine palate line with an elegant core and a very smooth palate flow, enlivened by lacy acidity. This builds in depth and intensity and has the drive to carry the fruit flavours to a sustained, dry, minerally finish. This is a fine and delicate Pinot Gris with subtle floral and pear flavours that build with weight on the palate. Serve with antipasto, seafood and poultry over the next 3-4 years. 80% of the fruit was sourced from the company's ‘Serendipty' vineyard in the Waihopi Valley, hand-picked and WBP, fermented with 15% in a mixture of new and old French oak puncheons to 13.1% alc. and 2 g/L rs, the wine undergoing batonnage. 1,500 cases made. 17.5-/20 Oct 2012 RRP $25.00
