Catalina Sounds Marlborough Pinot Gris 2010

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 14-Mar-2012
Bright, even straw-yellow colour, the nose is soft and mellow with ripe stonefruit aromas along with notes of honey, apricots and a little flintiness, all balanced and with intriguing nuances. Dry, this is gentle and quite harmonious on palate, with gentle, succulently sweet flavours of spiced pears and honey. The mouthfeel is soft and rounded, with discreet acidity, and the wine builds in richness and weight, leading to a moderately long finish with a subtle lusciousness. This is a harmonious and well-balanced Pinot Gris with rich spiced pear characters, beginning to drink well now. Match with Thai, Vietnamese or Japanese cuisine over the next 3+ years. Fruit from the company's ‘Serendipity' vineyard in the Waihopi Valle, fermented to 13.5% alc. and 2.2 g/L rs, with 7% fermented in French oak puncheons, the wine given extended lees contact. 17.5+/20 Mar 2012 RRP $24.00
