Castillo de Fuendejalon Campo de Borja Crianza 2008

Grenache from Spain
Review Date : 14-Jun-2012
A blend of 75% Garnacha and 25% Tempranillo, from vines over 30 y.o. and 20 y.o. respectively, fermented to 12.5% alc., the wine aged 6 months in American oak. Very dark, deep, purple-ruby colour, the bouquet is voluminous with savoury game meat aromas with soft red fruits underneath. On palate the gamey flavours are matched by sweet oak vanillins. While reasonably supple and approachable, there is a rustic flavour profile and firmness on the finish which shows its down-to-earth and traditional style.  16.0/20  Jun 2012  RRP $19.90
