Castelnau ‘Edition 2015’ Champagne Brut Reserve NV

Sparkling Wine from France - Champagne
Review Date : 06-Jul-2015
Bright, even, light golden-yellow colour with lemon-green hues on the rim. The bead is very fine with good persistence. The bouquet is full, broad and up-front with deep aromas of yellow stonefruits harmoniously entwined with bready autolysis. With aeration, a tight core of yeast, nuts and subtle aldehyde elements is revealed. Dry to taste, a soft, creamy mousse features on the front palate which opens up with mouthfilling flavours of yellow stonefruits along with bready and yeasty autolysis notes. The mouthfeel is soft and creamy, with a very fine, phenolic texture and grip, and easy acidity. This is rounded and accessible, and the wine carries to a full, flavoursome finish. This is an upfront, rounded and flavoursome Champagne with plenty of fruitiness and balanced autolysis. Serve as an aperitif and with canapés over the next 2+ years. A blend of 40% Chardonnay, 20% Pinot Noir and 20% Pinot Meunier, fermented to 12.5% alc., 17% composed of reserve wine, aged 5 years before release. 17.5+/20 Jul 2015 RRP $59.95
