Castelnau Champagne Rosé Brut NV

Sparkling Wine from France - Champagne
Review Date : 06-Jul-2015
Light salmon-hued peach-pink colour with some depth, pale on rim, with a fine, persistent bubble. This has a finely concentrated and intense nose with soft red berry fruit aromas of strawberries and pomegranate, along with red florals, melded with bready, yeast and minerally notes. The autolysis is restrained and well-integrated with the fruit. Dry to taste and elegantly proportioned, the mouthfeel is soft with a creamy effervescence and features a very soft, fine-grained texture. The fruit flavours of strawberries and pomegranate are harmoniously integrated with subtle yeast autolysis flavours. This is fine-featured and possesses delicacy, with soft acid freshness. The flavours are gently concentrated and carry to a sweet-fruited finish of red fruits and restrained bready, yeasty autolysis. This is an elegant, harmonious and gentle red-fruited rosé Champagne. Serve as an aperitif, and with antipasto over the next 2-3+ years. A blend of 35% Chardonnay, 14% Pinot Noir and 51% Pinot Meunier, fermented to 12.5% alc., 10% being the addition of red Pinot, and 25% based on reserve wine, aged 5 years before release. 17.5/20 Jul 2015 RRP $74.95
