Castellani Chianti DOCG 2016

Blended Red from Italy - Tuscany
Review Date : 27-Jan-2019
Dark ruby-red colour with some depth, a little lighter on the rim with garnet hues. The nose is elegantly concentrated with good depth of savoury red cherry fruit along with subtle notes of dried herbs unfolding classical bitter cherry elements. This grows in density with aeration. Medium-bodied, the palate has savoury red cherry and berry fruit flavours melded with dried herb notes. The fruit is sweet with some lusciousness and is balanced by grainy tannin extraction and grip and fresh acidity lending the palate good energy. The flavours carry to a lingering sweet and savoury finish. This is a Chianti with classical savoury red cherry and berry fruit flavours along with lush dried herb notes on a grainy palate with some acid liveliness, Match with roasted red meats and casseroles over the next 3+ years. A blend of Sangiovese and Canaiolo fermented to 12.0% alc. 17.0+/20 Jan 2019 RRP $14.99
