Casa Giorno Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC 2014

Montepulciano from Italy - Other
Review Date : 09-Dec-2015
Dark, deep, even ruby-red colour with lighter garnet hues on the rim. The nose is light with a oftly packed heart of dark red cherry fruit infused with bramble, dried herbs, earthy and nutty notes and hints of cedar. Medium-bodied, the flavours of savoury and earthy red cherry fruit are melded with dried herbs, cedar and a suggestion of tar. The palate has a soft, but concentrated core with density. The tannin extraction is rounded and the acidity mellow and integrated, adding to the depth and linearity. The wine leads to a soft, savoury finish of dried herbs, earth and red cherries. This is an elegantly presented Montepulciano with savoury and earthy red cherry fruit and a softly concentrated core. Serve with casseroles, mince dishes and semi-hard cheeses over the next 3+ years. Montepulciano fruit fermented to 12.5% alc. 16.0+/20 Dec 2015 RRP $17.90
