Casa Giorno Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC 2012

Montepulciano from Italy - Other
Review Date : 23-Apr-2014
Very dark, deep, blck-hued ruby-red colour, lighter edged. The bouquet is tightly concentrated with well interwoven aromas of ripe dark berry fruits along with some jam elements and earthy plum, mineral and tar nuances. Medium-bodied, gentle and luscious fruit flavours of savoury black fruits are detailed by blackberry jam and mineral notes. The sweet and juicy fruit is balanced by a fine core of light, supple tannins, with balanced acidity enhancing the liveliness of the mouthfeel. The extraction grows in firmness and carries the wine to a light, dry, lingering finish. This is a supple, juicy Montepulciano with good underlying tannins. Match with roast pork, lamb and beef over the next 3+ years. Montepulciano made by Vini Botter, fermented to 13.0% alc. 16.5+/20 Apr 2014 RRP $16.90
